About Dr Chris Twelves

Dr Chris Twelves is a professor at the University of Leeds and leads the NIHR Leeds Clinical Research Facility. Based at the St James’s Institute of Oncology, he is a trained medical oncologist with previous experience at the Beatson Oncology Centre in Glasgow.

Dr Twelves has a particular interest in new drug development. He has been involved in the development of important treatments like capecitabine and eribulin. He is especially involved in early-stage clinical trials that test new medicines.

He has written nearly 300 research papers in leading medical journals and regularly speaks at international conferences. He has also contributed to several books on clinical trials.
